Vancouver Couples Photographer | A Creative Anniversary Session

When Shannon and Quinn reached out looking for a Vancouver couples photographer to celebrate their third wedding anniversary, I knew immediately that we were going to have fun together.

They were visiting Vancouver from California and have a tradition I absolutely love: every year, they celebrate their anniversary with a photo session. This time, they wanted something creative, colourful and a little moody to remember their trip to Vancouver and I was more than happy to lean into that brief. A Creative Anniversary Photo Session in Vancouver

One of my favourite things about Vancouver couples photography is creating images that actually feel like the people in them. Shannon and Quinn weren’t looking for a checklist of Vancouver landmarks or a collection of perfectly posed photographs. They wanted images with personality, atmosphere and a strong sense of place. So rather than building their session around one specific destination, we spent the evening exploring together.

We walked, talked about travel and fantasy books and kept our eyes open for interesting pockets of colour, architecture and light along the way. A colourful wall here, an unexpected reflection there, a sliver of dramatic light between buildings. The area around Olympic Village gave us plenty to play with.

That freedom allowed the session to feel less like moving through a shot list and more like making something together.

Vancouver Couples Photography That Feels Creative, Not Forced

You don’t need to know how to pose or arrive at your session with a Pinterest board full of ideas.

In fact, you don’t need to know exactly what your photos should look like at all.

Part of my job as a Vancouver couples photographer is figuring out what excites you and then translating that into photographs. I’ll guide you when you need it, look for the light and locations that will photograph beautifully and give you space to actually interact with each other rather than worrying about what your hands are doing.

For Shannon and Quinn, that meant embracing richer shadows, bold colour, unusual compositions and the architecture around us while still keeping their connection at the centre of the photographs.

The result is a gallery that feels distinctly theirs.
